No tsunami threat in Philippines after strong Indonesia quake —PHIVOLCS


No tsunami threat was detected in the Philippines following a magnitude 7.6 earthquake that struck Indonesia on Tuesday morning, PHIVOLCS said.

"No tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake," a PHIVOLCS advisory read.

Data gathered by PHIVOLCS showed that the tremor struck at 11:20 a.m. at 7.8°S, 122.3°E at Flores Sea in Indonesia. It had a depth of 076 kilometers.

PHIVOLCS said hazardous tsunami waves are possible for coasts located within 1,000 km of the earthquake epicenter.

"This is for information purposes only and there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake," the advisory read. --Jamil Santos/KBK, GMA News
