P74.3B worth of illegal drugs seized under Duterte administration

About P74.3 billion worth of illegal drugs and laboratory equipment have been seized since President Rodrigo Duterte took office in 2016, said Interior Secretary Eduardo Año on Wednesday.

During Duterte's Talk to the People program, Año said 1,000 drug dens and clandestine laboratories have also been dismantled.

He said 23,686 out of the 35,416 drug-affected barangays nationwide have already been considered drug-cleared.

Through the anti-drug campaign, a total of 319,929 persons were arrested, while 6,221 persons have died during the operations, Año said.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,086 minors involved in illegal drug activities have been rescued.

Año said the administration's anti-drug campaign has resulted in lower crime volumes.

"Almost 41% po ang ibinaba ng crime volume. Tumaas din po ang ating crime solution efficiency, naging 85% at tumaas din po 'yong crime conclusion efficiency," he said.  -- BAP, GMA News
