Anchored vessels not spared during Odette's onslaught in Bohol

Several vessels in Bohol were damaged by Typhoon Odette despite being anchored near the coast.

According to a report by Ian Cruz on "24 Oras" on Thursday, some of the vessels in Loon, Bohol sank due to the strong winds and big waves brought by Odette.

Despite the calamity, residents said they will still celebrate Christmas.

"Tuloy ang Pasko. Pasko pa rin kahit walang pagkain basta Pasko pa rin," Gloria Fulido said.

At least 104 individuals were killed in Odette's devastation, while 12 remain missing.

Bohol, Siargao, Surigao del Norte and the Dinagat Islands will remain without electricity over Christmas, agencies tasked to restore power in areas affected by Typhoon Odette said on Tuesday.

Energy spokesperson Felix Fuentebella earlier said it would be “challenging” for power to be restored in the four areas by the end of the year.

Officials indicate that restoration efforts have been hampered due to difficulties in transportation and road blockages as passageways have also been hit by the typhoon.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
