DOH reports 433 new COVID-19 cases; active cases at 9,522
The Department of Health on Sunday reported 433 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the country's total case count to 2,838,640.
According to the DOH, 392 of the 433 cases reported occurred within the past 14 days or from December 13 to 26.
The DOH also said the new cases account for 2% of the 21,116 tests conducted on December 24.
The new infections brought the country's active case count to 9,522, of which 3,574 were mild, 458 were asymptomatic, 1,777 were severe, and 374 were in critical condition.
Total recoveries increased to 2,777,918 after 283 more patients defeated the viral disease.
The death toll climbed to 51,200 with 13 new fatalities.
The DOH noted that of the 13 reported deaths, only five occurred in December 2021, three in October, two in September, one in July, and two in March due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya.
The DOH also said five duplicates and 169 cases found to have tested negative have been removed from the total case count.
Meanwhile, nine cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
The DOH said two laboratories were not operational on December 24, while six laboratories were not able to submit their data.
The latest data from the DOH also showed that 17% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 10% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.
In Metro Manila, 17% of the ICU beds are utilized, while 11% of the ventilators are in use. — DVM, GMA News
