Violators of COVID-19 protocols will be prosecuted —Palace

Malacañang on Friday vowed to prosecute anybody who will be found violating COVID-19 quarantine protocols amid the recent uptick in pandemic infections.

Acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles made the response when asked about the returning Filipino from the United States who is under investigation after allegedly leaving her quarantine hotel in Makati in violation of the mandated seven-day facility quarantine period.

Tourism chief Bernadette Puyat said this individual even bragged that she was able to breach quarantine protocols due to her connections.

"We will not hesitate to prosecute those who are violating the law. Hindi natin tatantanan 'yan (We won't let this go). This is a public health emergency," Nograles said.

"You cannot let this go. It is important to follow the law for everybody's protection and safety. Let us not think we can get away with it," Nograles added.

Nograles then said that people should not push their luck.

"Make no mistake: Anyone who violates the law will catch up to you. Huwag niyo subukan, please (Don't try to break the rules, please)," Nograles added. — DVM, GMA News
