Financial aid released to Odette victims now at P293M —DSWD
The amount of financial aid given to Typhoon Odette-hit communities is now over P293 million from P130M, the Department of Social Welfare and Development said Sunday.
In its report, the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center indicated that P293,352,307 in assistance were distributed by DSWD, local government units, and non-government organizations, among others.
Among the areas hit by Odette were MIMAROPA, Region 5, Region 6, Region 7, Region 8, Region 9, Region 10, Region 11, Region 12, CARAGA, and BARMM.
Latest report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) indicated that 407 were reported dead from Odette's wrath – 75 confirmed and 332 for validation.
Meanwhile, 1,241,954 families or 4,876,254 individuals were affected by the typhoon.
On the other hand, electricity of 206 out of 284 affected cities and municipalities have been restored.
The government also revived the communication lines of 84 out of 125 affected cities and municipalities. —LBG, GMA News
