P4.8 billion in Odette cash aid downloaded to 420 cities, municipalities —DILG
The P4.8-billion budget for the cash aid for severely affected survivors of Typhoon Odette has already been downloaded to 420 cities and municipalities, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Wednesday.
At the Palace briefing, DILG spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said these areas are from 27 provinces in Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.
“Ito po yung budget na naibaba na natin sa ibat-ibang munisipyo at lungsod na lubhang naapektuhan ng Bagyong Odette,” he said.
(This is the budget that we already downloaded to different municipalities and cities that were severely affected by Typhoon Odette)
Western Visayas received the highest chunk of the budget, amounting to P1,633,336,000 for its 134 affected cities and municipalities.
Other regions received the following budget for the cash assistance of typhoon survivors:
- Central Visayas - P1,038,606,000 for 109 cities and municipalities
- Eastern Visayas - P964,099,000 for 64 cities and municipalities
- Caraga - P864,080,000 for 71 cities and municipalities
- Mimaropa - P198,211,000 for 27 cities and municipalities
- Northern Mindanao - 156,024,000 for 57 cities and municipalities
The cash aid will be given to low income families who are severely affected by Odette. An individual may receive P1,000 while a family may receive up to P5,000.
Concerned LGUs have up to 15 days to finish the distribution of the cash assistance. — BM, GMA News
