Sen. Gatchalian tests positive for COVID-19

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Friday said he has tested positive for COVID-19.

On Twitter, Gatchalian said he is experiencing mild symptoms and is already on self-quarantine.

"Following strict health protocols, I went on self-quarantine away from family, friends and the public," he said.

"So far, I am only experiencing mild symptoms from the virus and this goes to show that the vaccines are effective and working against it."

Gatchalian urged the public to get their booster shots "right away."

"I will be back to work in no time as we wind down the 18th Congress," he said.

The Philippines on Thursday recorded 17,220 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,888,917. —KBK, GMA News
