DOTr official reports theft of jewelry collection, cash

Transportation Assistant Secretary Goddes Libiran over the weekend took to social media to report her the theft of her jewelry collection, along with cash, saying she believes a newly hired household helper had made off with them.

In a post on her Facebook page, Libiran said she left the house to get her COVID-19 booster shot, and returned home to find her jewelry collection and cash gone.

Libiran said that the maid, whom she had hired through an agency, had left the house on Saturday afternoon ostensibly to buy garlic and onions, but did not return.

“Iba ka, Manang. Nagmalasakit pa akong ipagamot ka kahapon dahil sa sakit mo, tapos ganito lang gagawin mo sa pamilya ko? Ibang klase ka,” Libiran said in her social media post.

“Hindi siya dapat pagkatiwalaan, at lalong dapat ay maturuan ito ng leksyon,” she added.

[You are something else. I even had you treated for your illness yesterday and this is how you repay my family? She cannot be trusted and she needs to learn her lesson.]

In the same post, Libiran appealed for authorities to find the suspect and ensure that justice is served.

“To my friends in the NBI and the Police Force, please help me find this person… To the agency, may pananagutan kayo dito [you have a liability here.] Exhaust all efforts to find this person,” she added.

In a separate post, Libiran shares screenshots of her conversation with the agency through which she hired the maid.

“You better make sure na wala kayong kinalaman dito ha. Or else, pakakasuhan ko rin kayo. Hindi ninyo ini-iscreen ng maayos. Iba ang pangalan sa mga ipinasa ninyong dokumento,” she told the agency.

[You better make sure that you are not involved in this, or else I will sue you. You do not screen properly. There are discrepancies in the documents you submitted.]

The agency responded with only “Ok.” GMA News Online has reached out to the agency for comment on the matter through the social media page tagged in Libiran’s post, but a spokesperson was not immediately available. — BM, GMA News
