PNP spokesperson Alba tests positive for COVID-19


Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Police Colonel Roderick Alba on Tuesday said he has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to him, his positive result came out Monday evening. “I tested positive for COVID-19, report from the Health Service just came out now.”

He said he was experiencing flu symptoms, dry cough, runny nose with phlegm, and body pains. Alba said he will be under quarantine at the Kiangan Emergency and Treatment Facility in Camp Crame.

“I am now focusing on my immediate recovery,” he said.

Last week, PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos confirmed that he also tested positive for COVID-19.

Carlos said he as well as his close-in security and staff underwent RT-PCR tests on Sunday after his personnel experienced fever and chills.

Aside from him, his duty driver and aide also tested positive for the disease

The PNP has recorded a total of 43,992 with 537 new infections among its personnel.

At least 41,455 have already recovered from the disease while 2,412 are still active cases.

The death toll in the police organization due to COVID-19 remained at 125.

Meanwhile, a total of 215, 886 PNP personnel (95.81%) are already fully vaccinated, while 8,051 (3.57%) are waiting for their second dose.

At least 1,396 PNP personnel (0.62%) have yet to be vaccinated. — RSJ, GMA News
