PNP adds quarantine facilities, beds for COVID-19 infected personnel

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it added more quarantine facilities and beds amid the rising COVID-19 infections among its personnel.

PNP Chief Police General Dionardo Carlos ordered more beds and areas for its personnel infected with COVID-19 inside the Camp Crame Headquarters.

"The PNP added 80 beds at Training Service facility while additional 100 beds were placed at the Badminton Court to fully accommodate PNP personnel who tested positive for the virus,” Carlos said in a statement.

"We are adding more quarantine beds as a proactive measure just in case there will be more personnel who will need to undergo quarantine,” he added.

Carlos, however, noted that asymptomatic personnel can go on home quarantine but need to submit their regular body conditions to the monitoring medical team.

He assured that the police organization’s operational capabilities and performance would not be hampered amid the rising cases among policemen.

Meanwhile, Carlos said the Kiangan Emergency Treatment Facility remains the primary quarantine facility in Camp Crame for COVID-positive cases.

The PNP recorded 537 new cases among its personnel, bringing the total number of cases to 43,992.

Based on the latest PNP data, the total active infections stood at 2,412, while 10 personnel recovered from the respiratory disease, increasing its recovery tally to 41,455.

The number of deaths among PNP personnel remained at 125.

Last week, Carlos confirmed that he tested positive for COVID-19.

PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Roderick Alba also said he has tested positive for COVID-19. — DVM, GMA News
