PNP: Quarantine, isolation facilities inside Camp Crame hit full capacity


The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said that all COVID-19 quarantine and isolation facilities inside Camp Crame were at full capacity.

Police Lieutenant General Joselito Vera Cruz, Deputy Chief for Administration and Chairman of Administrative Support for COVID-19 Task Force (ASCOTF), said isolation facilities inside the PNP headquarters were fully occupied as of 6 a.m. Friday.

"Based on the data of our Health Service, the 287 rooms in Kiangan Emergency Treatment Facility and other facilities were fully occupied but we can still accommodate thru room sharing especially for families who got infected,” Vera Cruz said in a statement.

“Others will now be transferred to other isolation facilities within NCR (National Capital Region), PNP, and LGU (local government unit)-owned,” he said.

Vera Cruz said the PNP is still waiting for the formal guidelines from the Department of Health on a shortened isolation period to decongest facilities.

PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos earlier ordered more beds and areas for its personnel infected with COVID-19 inside Camp Crame.

He assured that the police organization’s operational capabilities and performance would not be hampered amid the rising cases among policemen.

The PNP on Friday recorded 548 new cases among its personnel, bringing the total number of cases to 45,028.

Based on the latest PNP data, the total active infections stood at 3,766, while 44 personnel recovered from the respiratory disease, increasing its recovery tally to 41,137. — VBL, GMA News
