PNP COVID-19 cases climb to 45,542


The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday recorded 295 new COVID-19 cases among its personnel, driving up the total tally of infections to 45,542.

The active cases numbered 3,982, data from the PNP Health Service showed.

A total of 341 recovered, thus pushing total recoveries count to 41,435.

The death toll meanwhile remained at 125.

On Saturday, the Philippines recorded 39,004 new COVID-19 cases, the highest since the pandemic began.

This brings the total COVID-19 cases in the country to 3,168,379, the Department of Health said.

Of this number, 280,813 are active cases.

A total of 23,613 more patients recovered from the respiratory disease, bringing the total tally to 2,834,708.

The number of deaths climbed to 52,858 with 43 new fatalities. —KG, GMA News
