PNP: 396 areas nationwide under COVID-19 granular lockdowns
As of Monday, 396 areas across the country were under a granular lockdown, fewer than Saturday's 419 areas, the Philippine National Police reported.
Based on PNP data released Tuesday, 181 of the locked-down areas were in the Cordillera Region, 123 in the Ilocos, 57 in Metro Manila, 23 in Mimaropa, and 12 in Calabarzon.
A total of 840 people were affected by the granular lockdowns, according to the PNP.
To ensure security and adherence to minimum health standards in the locked-down areas, 152 PNP personnel and 237 force multipliers had been deployed.
Local government units decide on whether or not to impose or lift a granular lockdown on a house, compound, street, or building based on the number of infections reported.
Granular lockdowns are micro-level area COVID-19 quarantines for "critical zones" in LGUs.
On Monday, the Philippines reported 3,242,374 total COVID-19 infections, with 37,070 additional cases. A total of 290,938 are still active cases. — DVM, GMA News
