Pacquiao wants Filipino heroes featured on banknotes
Presidential aspirant and Senator Manny Pacquiao on Saturday said he wants to see Filipino heroes on banknotes.
During the Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews, Pacquiao said that Filipino heroes should be featured on banknotes because they gave honor to the country.
"'Yong ating mga bayani, 'yong nagbigay ng inspirasyon at karangalan sa ating bansa," Pacquiao said.
(Our heroes, those who gave inspiration and honor to the country.)
Recently, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) released a new design of the P1,000-denominated banknote featuring the Philippine eagle in front, replacing heroes Vicente Lim, Josefa Llanes Escoda, and Jose Abad Santos.
This move was criticized by some individuals, including lawmakers, as they urged the BSP to reconsider its decision.
Light questions were also asked during the interview, including the senator's favorite book.
Pacquiao said his favorite book is "The Purpose Driven Life," authored by Rick Warren.
"'Purpose Driven Life'... 'yon ang binabasa ko at 'yon ang nagpa---talagang nagbigay sa akin ng guide para mag bagong buhay and then ang Panginoon nagbigay sa akin ng conviction, kaya paborito ko 'yong Purpose Driven Life," he said.
(I read the 'Purpose Driven Life' because it gave me a guide to change my ways and the Lord gave me conviction. That is why it's my favorite book.)
On his greatest love, the retired boxing champion mentioned God, his family and his wife, Jinkee. He added that he greatly admires his mother and father.
He also said he does not like people who do not look back at their roots. — VBL, GMA News
