War on drugs should not focus on killings, but be treated as a health problem — Ka Leody

Labor leader and presidential aspirant Leody de Guzman on Saturday said the war on drugs should not focus on killings, but instead be treated as a health problem.

Itrato ang war on drugs bilang health problem," De Guzman said in a Facebook live.

(We should fight and continue the war on drugs but not in the manner of killing or treating the victims as criminals. War on drugs should be treated as a health problem.)

(I don't agree with a war on drugs that involves killings. It turns out that our position is correct that it will not be resolved through killings. You see, many were killed but drugs are still ongoing.)

Regarding the anti-terror law, De Guzman said the Anti-Terrorism Council's authority to detain terror suspects for up to 24 days without a judicial warrant of arrest is against the 1987 Constitution.

Nawawala," he said.

(Where is the intelligence fund being spent, where are the things they learned about acquiring the right information before conducting arrest? It is missing.)

De Guzman added the said policy is prone to authorities conducting torture on terror suspects.

(The people should still oppose, fight for the abolition of the anti-terror law.) — RSJ, GMA News
