Face-to-face classes to proceed with expanded phase amid COVID-19 pandemic —DepEd exec

The conduct of the face-to-face classes in the country is now under its expansion phase amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Education Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla said Tuesday.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Sevilla said more schools will join in holding in-person classes starting February.

“Tuloy-tuloy tayo (We will proceed with the face-to-face classes). In fact, we now call it the expanded face-to-face approach or stage,” she said.

During the conduct of pilot face-to-face classes from November 15 to December 20 last year, DepEd said 287 public and private schools participated nationwide.

Earlier, DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said more grade levels will be included in the conduct of expanded face-to-face classes.

Initially, only Kindergarten to Grade 3 as well as Senior High School students were allowed to participate during the pilot run.

On January 18, Malacañang said President Rodrigo Duterte backed DepEd’s plan to expand in-person classes by February.—AOL, GMA News
