Robredo says any truthful info from Duterte about Eleksyon 2022 candidates is welcome

Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo said Wednesday that she would welcome truthful information about any candidate for the 2022 polls, saying it would be for the benefit of all.

Robredo was responding to the comments made by President Rodrigo Duterte that he will name the corrupt, if not unfit presidential bets for the May polls in due time.

"Parati naman welcome 'yung information na totoo. Kasi nakakatulong siya sa tao, sa pag-assess ng capacity, ng integrity ng mga kandidato," she said during an interview in Basilan where her office's anti-poverty program Angat Buhay inaugurated a Weaving Center in partnership with C.C. Buencamino Architect to the Local Government Unit of Lamitan City, Basilan and the Yakan Weavers of Brgy. Buahan.

(We always welcome information which is factual because it will help the people in evaluating the capacity and integrity of the candidate.)

"In this age of disinformation in social media....posted by anonymous users with no accountability, we get bombarded with disinformation. It would be better if the President, members of the media, or any person with accountability will come forward with the information. This would be a big help," Robredo added.

Likewise, the Vice President expressed confidence that she does not need to defend her character from possible criticism from President Duterte, who earlier vowed to make her presidential bid tough as nails.

"I do not need to defend myself [from anything] because my track record will speak for itself. I don't need to pick up a fight, go on with a press release to prove that what I am saying is true," she said.

"I have been consistent in my efforts to serve, whether there is an election or otherwise. I am not bothered about opinions about me because my track record shows what I am capable of doing," she added.

As this developed, Robredo said that she will continue supporting far flung communities like the island province of Basilan if she is elected president.

"We have a deliberate attempt to look for the weavers in every nook and corner of the country and find out if they need support. Aside from the weavers here, we also support weavers in Kiangan, Ifugao, and in Lake Sebu. But here in Basilan, there is a greater need for support because weavers here do not have a permanent place where they can do their craft," she said.

"They do weaving under the heat of the sun or the rain. This is very striking, considering that even the children here know how to weave. They can sustain their art, and we just need to support them by providing them access to market, capital, and social enterprises who can use their product, just like the Jollibee in Europe which uses their woven product as table covers," she added.—AOL, GMA News
