218 more PNP personnel tested positive for COVID-19


The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday said 218 more of its personnel tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total active cases in the organization to 2,043.

Since the pandemic began, a total of 47,782 infections have been reported in the PNP. Of this number, 45,613 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far.

The deaths among PNP personnel remained at 126.

Meanwhile, a total of 217,875 (96.75%) of its personnel are already fully vaccinated against COVID-19; 6,360 (2.82%) are still awaiting their second dose; and 79,965 (36.70%) have received booster shots.

The PNP said 960 (0.43%) personnel have yet to be vaccinated.

On Wednesday, the Philippines reported 15,789 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 3,475,293. There are 230,410 active infections.

With 66 new fatalities, the country's death tally due to COVID-19 increased to 53,664. — VBL, GMA News
