Bongbong won't engage in hateful campaigning, spox says after VP Leni's 'liar' comment

Presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will not engage in any "hateful campaigning" following Vice President Leni Robredo's remark that he is a liar, according to Marcos' spokesman.

"What presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos is offering to the Filipino people is his unifying brand of leadership. He does not and will not engage in negative and hateful campaigning," Attorney Victor Rodriguez said in a statement Wednesday night.

Marcos and Robredo are both aspiring for the highest government post in the 2022 elections.

In a recent interview, Robredo said Filipinos should not vote for Marcos in the coming elections as he is a "liar." She also said Marcos does not show up in difficult situations.

Marcos recently skipped an interview with journalist Jessica Soho as his camp claimed that the veteran television host is "biased" against the Marcos family.

GMA Network has refuted this and cited Soho's track record of being a brilliant and trusted journalist who asks tough questions given that the presidency is a tough job. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
