PNP validating alleged kill plot vs. Bongbong Marcos

The alleged assassination plot against presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is being validated by the Philippine National Police (PNP), its chief, Police General Dionardo Carlos, said Monday.

Carlos told reporters that Marcos' camp had already coordinated with the police regarding the supposed kill plot against the former senator.

"We will validate it, mayroon na pong nakipagugnayan (someone already coordinated with us), nais pong mag... with regards to this report, we are open because our commitment is to secure everyone, our commitment is for a peaceful election," Carlos said.

"If there is such a report, we will work on it," Carlos added.

Carlos said the pieces of information that would be obtained will be forwarded to a task unit, which will later on take the necessary steps on the matter.

Over the weekend, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed that the DOJ's Office of Cybercrime (OOC) received an online tip about an alleged kill plot against Marcos.

Guevarra said the National Bureau of Investigation is already validating the tip.

Marcos' camp had said that the OOC pushed through with the investigation after receiving a TikTok post that read, "WE ARE meeting everyday to plan for BBM’s assassination. Get ready."

Attorney Vic Rodriguez, Marcos' spokesman, commended the OOC for its "swift and uncompromising response to uncover those behind this open threat to harm" Marcos.

Rodriguez also stressed that their camp is "not cowered" by the threat. — RSJ, GMA News
