Duterte packing stuff with four months left as president

President Rodrigo Duterte has started packing his things with four months left before his term as President ends.

"Nag-iimpake na nga ako eh. 'Yung iba pinadala ko na. Iyong madala sa barko, ibinarko ko (I'm already packing. Some of my things, I already had them shipped)," Duterte said during his regular Talk to the People address on Monday.

"I should be out by March. Hindi ko na paabutin ng Abril. 'Di na matutulog rin dito [sa Malacañang]. Kung saan ako dalhin ng Panginoong Diyos, mag-practice na akong matulog doon," he added.

(By March, I should be out. I won't wait until April. I won't sleep here. Whenever God takes me, I will start getting used to sleeping there.)

Duterte's term ends on June 30, 2022.

"Magpunta lang ako rito for the day-to-day trabaho, what's left of the things that we have to work on. I will make a speech one of these days thanking the people for giving me the distinct honor of giving me the position of President," he said.

(I will just go here for the day-to-day work, what's left of the things that we have to work on.)

"I await the day of turnover. Matikman ko rin ang feeling ng outgoing president (I will get to savor the feeling of an outgoing President). I will be the one to meet the new president, then I will invite him for a tête-à-tête," he added.

Only one of the 10 presidential candidates is a woman, Vice President Leni Robredo.

Duterte on Monday also said he would not support any presidential candidate in Eleksyon 2022 unless he would see what he called "a compelling reason" to do so in the coming months. —KG, GMA News
