Areas under granular lockdown down to 582 — PNP

The number of areas under granular lockdown due to COVID-19 has decreased from 605 to 582, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Tuesday.

Based on PNP data as of Monday, 380 of these areas are in Cordillera, 116 in Ilocos, 76 in Cagayan, six in the National Capital Region, and four in Mimaropa.

A total of 1,141 people were affected by the restrictions.

The PNP has deployed 163 personnel and 448 force multipliers to enforce minimum health standards in the locked down areas.

Local government units (LGUs) decide whether to impose or lift a granular lockdown on a house, compound, street, or building based on the number of infections reported.

Granular lockdowns are micro-level area COVID-19 quarantines for "critical zones" in LGUs.

The Department of Health on Tuesday reported 3,574 additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the country's total tally to 3,619,633. — VBL, GMA News
