Isko's senatoriables say Moreno can bring services in Manila to rest of Philippines

Members of presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno's senatorial ticket vouched for his ability to bring to other parts of the country the services he delivered to the capital city.

At Aksyon Demokratiko's campaign launch in Manila, senatorial candidate Samira Gutoc said Moreno would finish the Marawi City's rehabilitation years after it was destroyed by terrorists in a siege.

“Sino ang gusto pumunta sa Marawi sa bus ng Maynila, sakay ang bus ng Maynila? Gagawin natin yan for the first time cause I know if he fed 700,000 people Manila or non-Manileño he can do it for the poorest of the poor. Dyan sa Mindanao, dyan po sa Marawi, dyan sa Marawi tatapusin niya ang hindi natapos na Marawi rehabilitation,” Gutoc said.

(Who wants to go to Marawi using a bus from Manila? We will do that for the first time cause I know if he fed 700,000 people Manila or non-Manilaeno he can do it for the poorest of the poor. There in Mindanao, there in Marawi, there in Marawi he will finish the unfinished Marawi rehabilitation.)

Gutoc said Moreno and their slate would will bring back a better future with freedom and development for the Filipinos.

“Umaakyat ako dito dahil alam ko ang mga maliliit gaya namin, baguhan, di kilala pero sumabay sa bangkang inimbita samin ng Aksyon Demokratiko ay alam namin we represent more than half of Filipinos,” she said.

(I am standing here because I know beginners like us are unknown to the people but with the invition of Aksyon Demokratiko we know that we represent more than half of Filipinos.)

“We are going to use the power of the people, bring it back to the people dahil tayo ay kailangan na ng bagong kinabukasan with the freedom, with development, with necessary Filipino honor that we all deserve,” she added.

Attorney Jopet Sison recalled his political background, adding that he will continue to create laws in the Senate.

“Di ako bago sa paglilingkod. nais kong ipagpatuloy 'yan sa Senado. Ang paggawa ng batas sa barangay at lungsod, di naiiba sa paggawa ng batas sa Senado,” he said.

(I am not new to the ministry. I want to continue that in the Senate. Making laws in barangays and cities is no different from making laws in the Senate.)

He said Moreno would provide better governance and good welfare for the people.

“Ang pulitika, di tungkol sa mga pulitiko. Pag sinabi nating, pulitika, ibig sabihin ay performance, governance, welfare of the people. Kaya kapag pipili tayo ng pulitiko, ang hahanapin natin ay yung taong may performance, governance, at iniisip ang welfare of the people,” Sison said.

(Politics is not about politicians. When we say, politics, it means performance, governance, welfare of the people. So when we choose a politician, what we are looking for is the person who has performance, governance, and thinks about the welfare of the people.)

“Dahil kahit hindi taga Maynila basta nangailangan ng serbisyo, paglilingkuran ng taong ito. Kapag tinignan natin ang mga ginawa ang taong ito ay tunay na mapagkakatiwalaan. Kailangan natin ng tunay na pagbabago,” he added.

(Because even if you are not from Manila, as long as you need the service, this person will serve you. When we look at what has been done this person is truly trustworthy. We need real change.)

Former radio anchor and entrepreneur Carl Balita said he chose to run due to the crisis brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Ang pandemya hindi namili ng sector. tayong lahat ay nakaranas ng paghiirap na ito. May tatlong krisis na dala ng pandemya ang krisis ng kalusugan, karunungan, kabuhayan,” said Balita, a nurse and midwife.

(The pandemic did not pick up any sector. We have all experienced this hardship. There are three crisis brought about by the pandemic such as the crisis of health, wisdom, and livelihood.)

“'Yang tatlong krisis na 'yan ang dahilan kung bakit nasa harap ninyo ang kauna-unahang nurse-midwife na tumakbo bilang senador sa kasaysayan ng Republika ng Pilipinas,” he added.

(Those three crises are the reason why you have in front of you is the first nurse-midwife to run for senator in the history of the Republic of the Philippines.)

Moreno’s proclamation rally was initially scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. but was pushed back past 5:30 p.m.

Early in the day, Moreno and party mates held a motorcade around Manila, which he led as mayor for three years. —NB, GMA News
