Ka Leody pushes for autonomy for indigenous groups


Labor leader and presidential aspirant Leody de Guzman said he will push for an autonomous regions for the indigenous groups in the country if he wins in Eleksyon 2022.

De Guzman underscored the need to recognize the rights to self-governance of indigenous communities.

“Kilalanin natin ang karapatan ng mga katutubo sa sariling pagpapasya. Iyong mga kapatid nating Moro ay irespeto natin 'yung kanilang pagpasya sa kanilang sarili. Iyong totoong autonomiya ay ibigay natin sa kanila,” he said on the Campaign S.A.F.E. Comelec e-Rally Channel aired on Wednesday.

De Guzman earlier said he aims to end the decades-long insurgency problem in the country by pushing for genuine agrarian reform in the countryside, one of the demands of the communist rebels.

De Guzman is running under Partido Lakas ng Masa.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) earlier launched a Facebook page that will provide a platform for free livestreaming of national candidates' platform.

The Campaign S.A.F.E. Comelec e-Rally Channel on Facebook grants online airtime to candidates for president, vice president, senator and party-list groups ranging from three to 10 minutes.

The official campaign period for Eleksyon 2022 candidates running for national positions has officially started today, February 8, amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
