Isko open to adopting senatorial bets but on one condition

Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Thursday said he is open to adopting senatorial candidates who will publicly express their support for his tandem with Dr. Willie Ong.

In a statement, Moreno said he and Ong have agreed that they would not turn away those who would help them.

“May isa lang kaming rule — kailangan ‘yung sasali sa aming senador kailangan sasabihin nila sa publiko na kami ang kandidato nila,” Moreno said.

(We have one rule — those who will join our senatorial slate need to tell the public that we are their candidates.)

Moreno believes that guest senatorial candidates should have only one presidential candidate to support. He said he has to be fair to those who wish to join.

“Maiparamdam natin sa kanila na dilaw, pula, o sino pa puwede naman namin kayong makasalamuha… Lahat wine-welcome namin, lahat ng gustong tumulong sa amin, thank you very much,” he said.

“Ang pobre hindi nakakapamili masyado,” Moreno added.

(Everybody is welcome. Those who want to help us, thank you very much. Beggars can't be choosers.)

Moreno on Wednesday visited the towns of Rodriguez and San Mateo in Rizal with Ong and their senatorial bets Dr. Carl Balita, Samira Gutoc, and Jopet Sison.

Moreno said he is hopeful that more congressmen, governors, vice governors, mayors, vice mayors, and other officials will support them, including President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Pero hindi pa rin kami titigil na bumalik sa tao, diretso sa tao as what you have seen today again. Ngayon nga lang talagang literal na kaming humihingi ng boto, humihingi ng tulong sapagkat official na itong araw na ito so, we will continue this,” Moreno said.

(We will not stop returning to the people, we will head straight to the people as what you have seen today again. This is the only time that we literally asked for votes, asked for help, so we will continue this.)

“But we are hoping na pati senador baka tulungan din kami, kung sino man and that includes President Duterte para lang ‘yung future na tatanungin ninyo at least alam niyo na pati boto ni presidente hopefully ako ang maiboto niya,” he added.
