School graduation events possible with eased COVID-19 restrictions –DepEd

In-person graduation ceremonies at campuses were possible if eased COVID-19 restrictions continued, an official of the Department of Education said on Friday.

DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said the DepEd recommended expanded in-person classes and school-based activities, like graduation ceremonies, to President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Kung tuloy-tuloy ito , hindi malayo na yan maging posibilidad nga,” he said at the t the Laging Handa public briefing.

(If this would continue, graduation ceremonies were possible.)

Malaluan added that they would also need to consult with the Department of Health.

Schools under Alert Level 2 have started limited face-to-face classes.

Earlier, the DepEd said at least 304 public schools in areas under Alert Level 2 were ready to participate in the expansion phase of face-to-face classes.

DepEd Assistant Secretary Malcolm Garma said at least 6,347 public schools “underwent assessment and are deemed ready” to be included in the expansion phase of the limited face-to-face classes.

However, only around 304 public schools were ready to start limited face-to-face classes since these were in areas under Alert Level 2. — DVM, GMA News
