90% of vaccination data will be uploaded to VaxCertPH in 3-4 months - DICT

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said Thursday that a significant amount of vaccination data from local government units (LGUs) will be uploaded to its database in the next three to four months.

At the Laging Handa briefing, DICT Acting Secretary Emmanuel Caintic said that the LGUs have uploaded 70% to 80% of immunization data to VaxCertPH.

“[We’re] optimistic in three to four months' time aakyat ‘yan [it will rise] to 90%,” Caintic said.

The acting DICT chief also said that the agency needed to upgrade VaxCertPH to include an individual's booster shot vaccination status as well as conform with security features set by World Health Organization member countries that utilize a centralized vaccination database system.

The DICT previously advised those who obtained their VaxCertPH before February 7 to apply again as the QR codes in the old certificates are no longer scannable.

Caintic said 39 countries can now scan VaxCertPH at their points of entry. These include the United States, Australia, Canada, South Korea, Singapore, and Japan.

The application for the vaccine certificate can be accessed at https://vaxcert.doh.gov.ph/.

Caintic said the VaxCertPH can also be used for domestic travel and for entry into local establishments in the same way that LGU-issued vaccination cards are recognized. — VBL, GMA News
