READ: Protocols for voters on Election Day


The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released its New Normal Manual for the May 2022 national and local elections.

On its website, the poll body posted the manual, which includes the guidelines that must be observed by voters on May 9, the election day.

The standard protocols are as follows:

  •     Always wear face masks and face shields and observe other minimum public health standards while inside the voting center.
  •     Undergo non-contact temperature check upon entering the premises. Those with temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius must be brought to the medical personnel. If evaluated to be with fever, voter may proceed to the IPP to vote.
  •     Observe physical distancing of at least one meter.
  •     Proceed to the Voter's Assistance Desk to get precinct and sequence number.
  •     Proceed to polling place.
  •     Sanitize hands at the sanitation station before entering the polling place.
  •     Give his/her precinct number and sequence number.
  •     Cast his/her vote.

There is no mention if the voter needs to present the vaccination card during Election Day.

GMA News Online has reached out to the Comelec to inquire if vaccination cards will be required but it has yet to reply as of posting time.—AOL, GMA News
