Palace assures Pinoys in Ukraine will be flown home if they are willing to
Malacañang on Thursday assured the public that the Philippine government stands ready to assist Filipinos in Ukraine amid the ongoing invasion by Russia.
"The safety of Filipinos in Ukraine remains foremost in the mind of President Rodrigo Duterte," acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles said.
"The Philippine government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs, is conducting repatriation efforts for Filipinos in Ukraine," he added.
The DFA appealed to the Filipinos in Ukraine not to panic, assuring them that everyone will be provided assistance and moved to safer areas.
Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Twitter earlier said Poland has agreed to allow Filipinos leaving Ukraine to enter the country without visas.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Russia has launched a "full-scale invasion of Ukraine."
Germany, on the other hand, earlier halted the approval of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project from Russia as a sanction over Moscow's armed offensive in Ukraine's separatist territories.
There are around 380 Filipinos living in Ukraine, most of whom are in Kyiv and located far from the eastern border near Russia.—AOL, GMA News
