Gov't not planning to order additional Sputnik V vaccines –DOH

The government currently has no plans of procuring additional Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccines, citing the ample supply of vaccines in the country, the Department of Health (DOH) said Saturday.

Speaking at the Laging Handa briefing, DOH undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said that if the crisis in Ukraine affected the delivery of vaccines, the government would order mRNA vaccines from the US.

Cabotaje, meanwhile, added that there had been a delay in the delivery of vaccines for children aged 5 to 11.

"But as of now, we do not see any problems in terms of the other vaccines, except siguro baka tumaas in terms of transport, kung ano 'yung mga collateral damages. Baka tumaas 'yung presyo kasi nga 'yung transport," she explained.

(Probably, the cost of transport of the vaccines would increase due to collateral damage.)

Cabotaje had previously said the government was looking to limit future procurement of COVID-19 vaccines to just three to four brands. — DVM, GMA News
