More universities to resume face-to-face classes in SY 2022-2023 - CHED

A total of 313 universities have so far conducted face-to-face classes, and more are expected to follow in the upcoming school year 2022–2023, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) said Saturday.

"Sa ngayon kaunti pa lang, 313 na universities pa lang ang nagpi-face-to-face," CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera III said at the Laging Handa briefing.

(So far, there are only a few. Only 313 universities are conducting face-to-face classes.)

De Vera recalled that in January, most universities conducted online classes following a spike in COVID-19 cases.

"So, inayos nila iyong kanilang curriculum or syllabus na puwedeng naka-online muna tapos magpi-face-to-face sila. Ang mas maraming mga eskuwelahan ay magpi-face-to-face next school year," he said.

(They first adjust their curriculum or syllabus to allow online learning, and then they switch to face-to-face classes. More schools will conduct face-to-face classes next school year.)

"Makikita natin na unti-unting dadami iyan at talagang mas marami pagbukas ng first semester ng school year 2022-202," de Vera added.

(We will see a gradual increase and definitely there will be more schools conducting face-to-face classes when the first semester of school year 2022-2023 opens.)

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has allowed higher educational institutions to hold face-to-face classes using 100% of the classrooms' capacity in Alert Level 1 areas, Malacañang announced Friday. — VBL, GMA News
