DOH to seek amended EUA for 4th dose after discussions –exec
The Department of Health will file for an amended emergency use authorization (EUA) for the administration of the fourth dose against COVID-19 once discussions are finished, an official said Wednesday.
At the Palace briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the All Experts Group is still looking into the inoculation of certain priority groups.
"Sa ngayon po pinag-aaralang mabuti at kapag nakapagtapos na po ng pag-uusap tayo ay mag apply ng amended EUA for the fourth doses for our senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals," Vergeire said.
(As of now, we are studying this and once we have talked, we will apply for an amended EUA for the fourth dose of our senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals.)
An infectious disease expert had clarified that the second booster shot is not yet for the younger or the general population.
“For the younger population, ‘yung tinatawag nating immunocompetent, I don’t think we need additional booster. With the ability of this vaccine to protect us against severe infection, alam naman talaga natin na pwede rin tayong mahawahan pero ang importante nito, hindi tayo mag-severe [we know that we can still be infected but the important thing is that it’s not severe],” Dr. Rontgene Solante —LBG, GMA News
