Early registration for public Kinder and Grades 1, 7, 11 starts March 25, 2022

Early registration for public primary and secondary schools for School Year 2022-2023 will start on March 25 and runs through to April 30, 2022, according to the Department of Education.

The month-long registration period will give the department time to prepare for possible issues and concerns that may arise, it said.

“All incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 in public elementary and secondary schools shall pre-register to allow the Department to make necessary preparations and incoming plans for the coming school year,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones said in a memorandum dated March 21.

Briones said incoming Grades 2 to 6, Grades 8 to 10, and Grade 12 students are considered pre-registered and will not need to participate in early registration.

She also encouraged private schools to hold their early registration activities in the same timeframe.

The department also reminded schools and the public to follow protocols against COVID-19 transmission during the early registration activity.

In-person registration by parents and guardians will be allowed in areas under Alert Levels 1 and 2.

In areas under Alert Levels 3 to 5, registration shall be done through remote means such as text messaging and social media platforms.

The current academic year will end June 24, 2022. The DepEd has yet to announce the start of SY 2022-2023. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
