Kris Aquino warns voters vs. ex-boyfriend on UniTeam slate

Showbiz personality Kris Aquino on Wednesday warned voters against voting for an ex-boyfriend who happened to be on the UniTeam slate led by presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his running mate Sara Duterte.

At a campaign rally for the presidential candidacy of Leni Robredo in the Aquinos' home province  Tarlac, Kris adverted to the ex, whom she said wasn't up to fulfilling his promises.

Among the UniTeam's senatorial candidates are actors former Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and Robin Padilla. Both were Kris' former boyfriends.

Actress Angel Locsin was telling the crowd to vote for Robredo when Kris found the opportunity to make the remarks about the former boyfriend.

"Sinabi mo ‘yong may karelasyon. Di ba ‘yung isa, nasa Uniteam, ‘yung ex?  Oh, ‘wag niyo iboto ‘yon ah, sayang ang boto dahil hindi marunong tumupad sa mga pinangako. Dedma please," Kris said.

Kris is the youngest sister of the late former President Benigno Aquino III, who backed Robredo's vice presidential run in 2016.

GMA News Online has reached out to Bautista if he felt alluded to by Aquino's statements but is yet to receive a reply as of posting time.

Kris indicated in November that Bautista should not use their past to gain attention.

Meanwhile, Aquino said that a vote for Robredo is essential to steering the country away from the dark days of Marcos dictatorship.

"May respeto siya sa batas, ipaglalaban niya ang demokrasya.  Nakiki-usap po ako: ‘wag tayong pumayag na mawala itong muli.  Ipaglaban po natin ang ating karapatan, na never nang bumalik ang diktadurya," Kris said.

"Nandito po, it is my pleasure and my honor, dahil nandito ako sa Tarlac, ni-request ko na ako ang gagawa nito: our future president, because the last man standing will be a woman, Leni Robredo," she added. —NB, GMA News
