NUP backs Sara’s VP bid
VALENCIA CITY, Bukidnon —The National Unity Party (NUP) on Thursday announced its endorsement of the vice presidential candidacy of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
“We are one with Mayor Sara Duterte in her call ‘Mahalin Natin ang Pilipinas’ as this is a basic requirement for the country’s full recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic as well as for the fulfilment of our sacred mandate to serve and protect our people, as enshrined in the Party constitution,” NUP spokesman Reggie Velasco said in a statement.
“We call upon all our Party members to join hands with the UniTeam of former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Mayor Sara in nurturing national unity, peace and development,” Velasco added.
Duterte, for her part, said she is grateful for the endorsement of the NUP.
“The NUP’s expression of solidarity with this movement further strengthens my resolve to engender love of country among people from all walks of life, and to continue in the UniTeam’s campaign for our country to rise to its full potential through unity,” Duterte said.
Earlier, the NUP disclosed its endorsement on Marcos’ presidential bid.
However, NUP president and Cavite Representative Elpidio Barzaga said he would support the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo.
