BuCor to submit report on Palparan interview probe on Monday –Guevarra

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is scheduled to submit its report on whether or not prison rules were breached when convicted kidnapper retired-General Jovito Palparan was interviewed by Quiboloy-led broadcaster SMNI, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Saturday.

“BuCor will submit a report on the incident on Monday. I'll reserve my comments until then,” Guevarra told GMA News Online.

Guevarra earlier said that Justice Undersecretary Deo Marco was tasked to investigate the incident in which Palparan appeared in a television interview on SMNI.

“I think Usec. Deo Marco has more or less completed it,” the Justice chief said.

“It's just a matter of determining if proper procedures and guidelines were observed,” he added.

Palparan was convicted by a Bulacan court for the kidnapping and serious illegal detention of two UP students, Karen Empeño and Sherlyn Cadapan, in 2006.

The retired Army general was sentenced to reclusion perpetua and has been behind bars since 2018. — DVM, GMA News
