DOLE: Double pay for employees working on regular holidays
Workers who report on duty during regular holidays should receive double their daily wages, the labor department reminded firms on Monday.
In an advisory, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said workers who report on April 9 or the Araw of Kagitingan, April 14 or Maundy Thursday, and April 15 or Good Friday should receive 200% of their regular salary for the first eight hours.
They should also be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate for overtime work, and an additional 30% of their basic wage of 200% should the holiday fall on their rest day.
For overtime work on a regular holiday, workers should also be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate on the said day.
For April 16 or Black Saturday, the “no work, no pay” principle will apply unless the company has a policy granting payments on a special day.
Work on special day should be paid an additional 30% on the first eight hours of work, and an additional 30% of the hourly rate for overtime work
Workers who report on a special day which also falls on their rest day should be paid an additional 50% of their basic wages for the first eight hours, and an additional 30% for overtime.
