Moreno denies vote-buying: Habang busy sila sa politika, ako busy ako sa tao

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — While others are busy with politics, presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno on Friday said he is busy reaching out to the people.

Moreno issued the remark when asked about two individuals in Caloocan who introduced themselves as supporters gained by Moreno through vote-buying.

“Sabi nga daw. Pero wala tayo kinalaman doon. They can claim what they want to claim. Alam niyo naman ‘yun,” Moreno said in an ambush interview.

“Eh, tayo nga may nakita nagkakabigayan ng P500 eh. Wala tayong magagawa,” he added.

He did not provide the details but in March, a recording surfaced of the alleged distribution of white envelopes containing P500 in Nueva Ecija after a campaign rally of presidential candidate and former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The distribution of cash was abhorred by the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.

“Alam mo ngayon pagdating ng halalan, lahat ng mga, anong tawag doon, che-che buretsye ba tawag doon… habang busy sila nag a-arrange ng mga politika nila, ako busy ako lalapit sa tao,” Moreno said.

When asked if he was denying that the vote-buying was from his camp, Moreno said, “of course. Yes, of course.”

He also urged supporters to follow the regulations of the Commission on Elections or the Comelec. -- BAP, GMA News
