Comelec starts deploying ballots for local absentee voting

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday announced that it has started the deployment of ballots to be used for local absentee voting (LAV).

"The Committee on Local Absentee Voting (CLAV) has commenced the deployment of local absentee ballots and other election paraphernalia to the government agencies, [Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police], media entities and corporations," the Comelec said in a tweet.

Journalists, government employees, and uniformed personnel who will be on duty on May 9 or Election Day are allowed to avail of the LAV.

LAV for the 2022 polls is set on April 27, 28, and 29.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez earlier said about 60,000 ballots would be printed for local absentee voters.

The LAV ballots are manual ballots which means there are no pre-printed names of candidates. —Hana Bordey/KBK, GMA News
