DOH posts 224 new COVID-19 cases; active infections down to 22K


The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday registered 224 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 3,682,847.

According to the DOH's latest data, the number of active cases has dropped to 22,150 from 23,199 on Friday.

On January 2, there were 21,418 active cases, which was the lowest number this year prior to Saturday's update. 

The top regions with cases in the past two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,266, followed by Region 4-A with 502 and Region 3 with 373.

A total of 3,600,733 individuals have recovered from the viral disease, while the death toll has risen to 59,964.

At least 5,186 beds were occupied, while 27,233 were vacant, as the bed occupancy rate in the country stood at 16%.

A total of 10,570 individuals were tested on Friday, with 278 testing laboratories submitting data. —VBL, GMA News
