Pinoys head to church for Easter Sunday Mass
Filipinos woke up before dawn on Sunday to celebrate Easter commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
At the Quiapo Church in Manila, Catholic devotees who could not get inside the church due to limited capacity heard mass outside its doors, according to a report by Mao dela Cruz on Super Radyo dzBB.
Security was tight, with police monitoring the area.
The Salubong or traditional greeting between the image of the Virgin Mary and the image of the Risen Christ was held at 12 a.m. in Quiapo Church.
Other churches held the Salubong at 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. on Easter Sunday or on Saturday night.

Meanwhile at the Baclaran Church in Parañaque City, devotees from different areas arrived in time for the first mass scheduled at 6:30 a.m., according to a report by Divine Reyes on Super Radyo dzBB.
The devotees had to undergo temperature check before they were allowed inside the church compound.
Physical distancing was observed inside the church.

At the Sacred Heart Parish in Quezon City, meanwhile, Catholic devotees were at the area before dawn for the Salubong, according to a report by Luisito Santos on Super Radyo dzBB.
Authorities closed Scout Ybardolaza Street to traffic at 2 a.m. but reopened it at 4 a.m. after the Salubong was finished.
Devotees continued to arrive at the church throughout the morning to attend mass, and some of them bought puto bumbong and bibingka, traditional Filipino rice cakes, afterward.
