Comelec conducts VCM demo, mock polls in Metro Manila malls
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday conducted a vote counting machine (VCM) demonstration and mock polls in several malls in Metro Manila.
According to Luisito Santos’ Super Radyo dzBB report, these activities were conducted at SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, and SM Aura Tower.
Among those who monitored the activities were Comelec Commissioner Aimee Ferolino and Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez.

According to Jimenez, the event received positive feedback from the participants. Several mall goers easily learned the automated election system, which they will also experience in the actual elections on May 9.
The VCM demonstration includes teaching voters to properly shade the ballot, insert the ballot into the machine, and properly obtain the voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT).
The Comelec has partnered with SM Supermalls to educate voters about the automated election system.
SM Supermalls president Steven Tan said that all of their 78 malls nationwide would participate in the initiative.
The VCM demonstration in Luzon will run from April 20 to 24, while those in the Visayas and Mindanao will be from April 22 to 24. —Richa Noriega/VBL, GMA News
