Comelec asks Duterte to declare May 9, 2022 as special non-working holiday due to Eleksyon 2022


The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is asking President Rodrigo Duterte to declare May 9, 2022, as a special non-working holiday due to the elections.

In a media briefing, Comelec chairperson Saidamen Pangarungan said the Comelec en banc signed Resolution No. 10784 requesting the President to declare May 9 as a special non-working holiday nationwide.

“We signed resolution no. 10784 requesting President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to declare May 9, 2022 a  special non-working holiday all throughout the country in connection with the national and local elections,” Pangarungan said.

Local absentee voting for those who will be on duty on May 9,  started on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 and will last until April 29.

The Comelec said a total of 84,357 voters have been allowed to avail of local absentee voting (LAV), which will last until April 29, 2022. —KBK, GMA News
