DILG: Only 3 regions submitted names for tricycle drivers' ayuda

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Friday said only three regions so far have submitted a list of tricycle drivers who will benefit from fuel subsidy.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, DILG spokesman Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the deadline is set this Friday, April 29, for the local government units to submit their list. According to him, the DILG received 44,299 names.

“As of today, which is the deadline, meron na pong naisumite ang Region 2, Region 9, and CAR. A total of 44,299 names of tricycle drivers have already been validated by our local government units,” Malaya said.

Earlier, the DILG said around 1.2 million tricycle drivers and operators can be included as beneficiaries for fuel subsidies.

Malaya said that they are expecting more LGUs will submit their list later in the day.

The DILG will submit the list to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) so the agency could start the distribution of fuel subsidy to tricycle drivers.

Earlier, the LTFRB had said it is still waiting for the list of tricycle drivers from the DILG. Due to this, the DILG urged LGUs to hasten the submission of the names.

In March, LTFRB started the distribution of P6,500 fuel subsidies to over 377,000 qualified PUV drivers and operators to help alleviate their plight due to the price hikes on fuel amid the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

The subsidy could be claimed through cash cards issued by the Landbank of the Philippines that can be used in accredited fuel stations.
