DOH records 240 new COVID-19 cases; active tally dips to 7K


The Department of Health on Saturday recorded 240 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the nationwide cumulative caseload to 3,685,643.

According to the DOH’s latest data, the country's active case count continues to drop from 8,389 on Friday to 7,165 on Saturday. This new active tally is the lowest reported this year.

Among the top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,041, followed by Region IV-A with 379 and Region III with 227.

The DOH reported a total of 3,618,137 patients recovered from the respiratory disease.

The number of deaths, on the other hand, climbed to 60,341.

A total of 20,722 individuals were tested, while 312 testing laboratories submitted data as of April 29, Friday.

Meanwhile, the nationwide bed occupancy rate also decreased to 15.7% from the earlier 16.4%.

The number of beds occupied were 4,974, while at least 26,642 were vacant. —LBG, GMA News
