Philippines records 1,399 new COVID-19 cases from April 25 to May 1, 2022
The Philippines logged a total of 1,399 new COVID-19 cases from April 25 to May 1, 2022, 5 percent lower than the cases reported the previous week, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday.
According to the DOH’s weekly case bulletin, the daily case average for the week was 200. This was lower compared to the 209 average recorded from April 18 to 24, with 1,465 total new COVID-19 infections.
Data also shows that 723 severe and critical cases are currently admitted in hospitals due to COVID-19.
Of the 2,830 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 456 or 16.1% were occupied. Meanwhile 3,998 or 16.3% of the 24,521 non-ICU COVID-19 beds were in use.
Of the new cases recorded in the covered period, there was no one tagged as a new severe or critical case.
More than 67.9 million individuals or 75.45% of the government’s target population are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The DOH said some 13.2 million have received their booster shots.
Meanwhile, at least 6.6 million senior citizens or 76.48% of the target A2 population have also received their primary vaccine series.
There were also 215 more verified deaths last week, according to DOH. Of this, 40 deaths occurred between April 18 to May 1.
Of the 215 deaths, 56 occurred in April 2022 (26.0%), 6 in March 2022 (2.8%), 16 in February 2022 (7.4%), 13 in January 2022 (6.0%), 2 in December 2021 (0.9%), 10 in November 2021 (4.7%), 9 in October 2021 (4.2%), 31 in September 2021 (14.4%), 27 in August 2021 (12.6%), 5 in July 2021 (2.3%), 7 in June 2021 (3.3%), 8 in May 2021 (3.7%), 10 in April 2021 (4.7%), 9 in March 2021 (4.2%), 1 in December 2020 (0.5%), 2 in October 2020 (0.9%), and 2 in September 2020 (0.9%).—LDF, GMA News
