Philippines records 168 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 4K


The Philippines on Thursday recorded 168 new COVID-19 infections, increasing the nationwide caseload to 3,686,543.

The new infections brought the country's active case count to 4,694, according to the Department of Health's latest data.

The Health department said a total of 3,621,410 patients recovered from the viral disease, while the number of deaths climbed to 60,439.

According to the DOH, the top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 967, followed by Region 4-A with 329 and Region 3 with 201.

At least 18,574 individuals were tested, while 318 testing laboratories submitted data as of May 4, Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the nationwide bed occupancy rate also slightly increased from 15.7% to 16.6% as of Wednesday.

The number of beds occupied were 5,192, while at least 26,164 were vacant.—LDF, GMA News
