Bongbong supporters gather, cheer in front of EDSA headquarters

Supporters of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday morning gathered in front of his campaign headquarters on EDSA in Mandaluyong to celebrate his lead in the partial and unofficial tally in Eleksyon 2022.

According to Jonathan Andal’s report, the supporters occupied a few lanes of EDSA southbound.

They said that they would wait until the early hours to formally greet the presidential candidate.

Marcos acknowledged that the counting of votes had yet to be completed but added that his gratitude could no longer wait.

As of 1:02 a.m. on Tuesday, Marcos had 28,030,970 votes while his closest rival Vice President Leni Robredo had 13,384,632.

Supporters of Robredo, meanwhile, also gathered in Plaza Rizal, Naga City to conduct a prayer rally.

According to Veblen Reynes’ report, the supporters offered prayers and lit candles for the Vice President.

They also chanted Robredo’s name while waving the Philippine flag.

The supporters said the purpose of the gathering was to prove that they continue to support Robredo as they hope that the current voting turnout will change. —Mel Matthew Doctor/NB, GMA News
