105 individuals nabbed in NCR for violating May 8 to 9 liquor ban –NCRPO


A total of 105 individuals were apprehended in Metro Manila for violating the May 8, 2022 to May 9, 2022, election day, liquor ban, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported Saturday.

"We have arrested 105 persons who violated our liquor ban implemented at the dawn of May 8 up to the midnight of May 9," NCRPO spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Jenny Tecson said at the Laging Handa briefing.

"It was considered a violation of election laws. Complaints were filed against them," she added.

Meanwhile, Tecson also reported that the NCRPO had not recorded any election-related violent incident in the NCR.

"Masasabi po natin na ito po ay naging very peaceful... peaceful national and local polls in NCR dahil wala po tayong naitala na election-related violent incident," she said.

(We could say that the elections in NCR were very peaceful. Peaceful national and local polls in NCR because we had not recorded any election-related violent incident.)

She said the Black Friday Protest conducted by different groups at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) was "orderly and peaceful."

The rallyists condemned the alleged lapses committed by the Commission on Elections during the elections. — DVM, GMA News
